Job vacancy - Warden - Wheatfen Nature Reserve
Wheatfen Nature Reserve at Surlingham is one of the largest wholly independent nature reserves in East Anglia. Its 140 acres of woodland, broad and fen bordering the River Yare was once home to renowned naturalist Ted Ellis until his death in 1986.
With the retirement of our Warden, a new full-time Warden is required by the Trust. David Nobbs, Warden at Wheatfen, is retiring in May. David has cared for the Reserve, with the help of a willing group of volunteers, for the past 25 years. He leaves the Reserve in excellent shape, most recently supervising the restoration of the pond that fronts the Thatched information hide. So now the Trust is looking for a new Warden to take on the challenge of maintaining Wheatfen for future generations to enjoy.
Main duties will include conservation and visitor management, wildlife recording, supervision of volunteers, educational and public-facing engagements.
Starting salary circa £22,000.
Closing date for applications 4pm, 20th February. Interviews Tuesday 7th March.
